The upcoming Hirayasumi anime has found its ending theme artist.
The official anime website has announced that singer-songwriter TOMOO will perform the series' ending theme when the television anime premieres in January 2027. The song is titled “Fūmi Zekka” (風味絶佳), a new song written specifically for the series.
TOMOO is known for her warm, expressive vocals and has previously performed theme music for anime projects including CITY THE ANIMATION. Her connection to Hirayasumi looks especially fitting given the manga's focus on ordinary moments, relationships and finding comfort in everyday life.
TOMOO Writes a Song for Hirayasumi
According to comments released with the announcement, TOMOO said she is a big fan of Hirayasumi and was excited to experience the warmth of the story again through the anime.
She explained that the song was inspired by images from the manga, including its bright nighttime streets and the feeling of a pleasant breeze while walking through the city.
That makes the ending theme particularly appropriate for a series built around the quieter side of life rather than large-scale action or dramatic spectacle.
What Is Hirayasumi About?
Hirayasumi is based on the acclaimed manga by Keigo Shinzo, which has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits since 2021.
The story follows Hiroto Ikuta, a carefree 29-year-old who has no full-time job, no girlfriend and seemingly no worries about the future.
His life changes when an elderly woman from his neighborhood unexpectedly leaves him her single-story home.
When Hiroto's cousin Natsumi arrives in Tokyo to attend art school, the house becomes the center of a group of characters dealing with their own hopes, worries and uncertainties.
Rather than focusing on a traditional dramatic conflict, Hirayasumi finds its story in the small moments of everyday life.
VIZ Is Already Bringing Hirayasumi to International Audiences
For North American manga readers, Hirayasumi isn't an unknown title.
VIZ Media licensed the manga and has been publishing the English edition since 2024. VIZ is also involved in the anime production alongside Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, making the upcoming adaptation particularly relevant to international fans already familiar with Shinzo's work.
VIZ previously revealed the anime's key visual, first footage and lead cast, including Yuma Uchida as Hiroto, Mayu Takahashi as Natsumi and Rikako Aikawa as Hanae Wada.
International streaming details have not yet been announced.
A Highly Acclaimed Manga Gets Its Anime Adaptation
Hirayasumi has earned significant recognition since its debut.
The manga won the Best Serialized Comic Award at Lucca Comics & Games 2024 and received the 71st Shogakukan Manga Award. The series currently has ten collected volumes in Japan.
The anime is being produced by Production +h., the studio behind The Orbital Children and Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction.
Kei Suezawa is directing the series while also handling series composition and scripts. Naoyuki Asano is designing the characters, Mika Nishimura is serving as art director, and Kaori Sawada is composing the music.
Hirayasumi Arrives in January 2027
With TOMOO now attached to the ending theme, another important piece of the Hirayasumi anime is in place.
The series is scheduled to begin airing on NHK General TV in Japan in January 2027.
For fans of the manga, the combination of Production +h.'s animation, the established voice cast and TOMOO's newly written ending theme should make Hirayasumi one of the more intriguing slice-of-life anime to watch when the 2027 winter season begins.
