Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite Gets Anime Adaptation From Kamisama Kiss Creator

A vampire obsessed with her favorite anime character is getting ready to make the jump from manga to television. Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, the supernatural romantic comedy from Kamisama Kiss creator Julietta Suzuki, has officially been announced for a TV anime adaptation.

The announcement was made by VIZ Media on November 3, 2026, alongside the release of a special teaser trailer and a new visual featuring the series’ vampire heroine surrounded by merchandise of her favorite character.

The anime is based on Suzuki’s manga, titled Oshi ni Amagami in Japanese. While the announcement confirms the adaptation is in production, the animation studio, staff, voice cast, and premiere date have not yet been revealed.

What Is Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite About?

The story follows Hina Alucard, a modern vampire who has spent 30 years as a shut-in. Unlike the vampires fans might expect, Hina doesn't rely on hunting humans for blood. Instead, she drinks blood from bags and spends her time obsessing over her favorite anime character, Mao.

Her life changes when she finally leaves her home in Romania and moves to Japan to pursue her ultimate otaku dream.

Things get especially interesting when Hina meets her new neighbor, Kyuta Amanatsu, a handsome but sharp-tongued young man who looks almost exactly like Mao, her favorite fictional character.

But there's another problem: Kyuta's blood is unusually special and irresistible to vampires around the world.

As other vampires begin showing an interest in Kyuta, Hina finds herself caught between her obsession with her favorite character and the unexpected feelings developing toward the real person living next door.

Is she simply fangirling over someone who looks like Mao, or is she actually falling in love?

That unusual combination of vampire comedy, otaku culture, romance, and supernatural chaos is at the heart of the series.

First Teaser Visual and Trailer Released

The anime announcement also included a special promotional trailer featuring artwork from Suzuki's original manga, along with a teaser visual introducing Hina.

The visual shows Hina happily surrounded by merchandise of Mao, including plush toys and character collectibles, giving fans an immediate look at her obsessive otaku lifestyle.

The promotional material establishes the anime adaptation, but does not yet reveal animation production details or show a confirmed release window.

From the Creator of Kamisama Kiss

One of the biggest reasons this announcement is attracting attention is the name behind the original manga.

Julietta Suzuki is best known for creating Kamisama Kiss, the popular supernatural romantic comedy manga that received a television anime adaptation and additional original animation releases.

Kamisama Kiss follows Nanami Momozono, a girl who unexpectedly becomes a land deity and finds herself sharing her new life with the fox familiar Tomoe.

With Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, Suzuki once again explores supernatural characters, romance, comedy, and the unexpected relationships that develop between them.

For fans who enjoyed the humor and romantic elements of Kamisama Kiss, this new adaptation offers another opportunity to see Suzuki's storytelling brought to animation.

The Manga Has Been Running Since 2022

Suzuki launched Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume shojo manga magazine in November 2022.

The series has continued to build its readership in Japan, with VIZ Media publishing the English-language edition for international readers.

The upcoming anime could introduce Hina, Kyuta, and the rest of the cast to an even larger audience, particularly viewers who may already be familiar with Suzuki through Kamisama Kiss.

When Will the Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite Anime Premiere?

For now, fans will have to wait for additional information.

The TV anime adaptation has been confirmed, and the first teaser visual and promotional trailer are available. However, no animation studio, director, voice cast, or premiere date has been announced.

More information is expected as the project develops.

With a vampire heroine who would rather collect anime merchandise than follow traditional vampire habits, a neighbor who looks exactly like her favorite character, and a supernatural romance waiting to unfold, Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite could be an entertaining addition to the upcoming anime lineup.
