Pokémon TCG Turns 30: A Complete Guide to the 30th Celebration Anniversary Releases
Thirty years of Pokémon Trading Card Game history is getting one of its biggest celebrations yet.
In 1996, the Pokémon Trading Card Game began its journey alongside the original Pokémon games. Three decades later, the TCG has become one of the most recognizable and collectible trading card games in the world.
Now, in 2026, The Pokémon Company is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon TCG with Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration.
And this isn't simply another expansion.
The anniversary collection brings together new cards, returning classics, 30 different Pikachu illustrations, a new Futuristic rare rarity, special promos, premium collector products, playable decks, figures, binders, and much more.
The 30th Celebration expansion officially launched on September 16, 2026, with additional products arriving throughout the fall and into December.
What Is Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration?
The 30th Celebration expansion was created specifically to commemorate three decades of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Every booster pack contains five foil cards, including one of 30 different Pikachu rare cards, plus a foil Basic Energy card.
The set also introduces a brand-new Futuristic rare rarity featuring artwork by renowned Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN.
And for longtime collectors, one of the biggest attractions is the Classic Collection, which brings back 30 classic Pokémon cards from throughout the history of the TCG.
The entire expansion also plays with a day-and-night theme, giving Pokémon such as Pikachu, Espeon, Umbreon, Mew and Mewtwo prominent roles in the anniversary celebration.

A Celebration Built for Collectors and Players
What makes 30th Celebration different from a normal Pokémon TCG expansion is the sheer number of ways Pokémon is celebrating.
There are products designed for casual collectors.
There are products designed for competitive players.
There are premium products aimed at serious collectors.
And there are products built around figures, artwork, binders and accessories.
The result is less like a single expansion release and more like an entire anniversary event spread across several months.
Three Decades of Pokémon TCG
The Pokémon Trading Card Game has changed dramatically since its debut in 1996.
The artwork has evolved.
The gameplay has evolved.
The rarity system has evolved.
And the Pokémon featured in the game have expanded across nine generations and beyond.
But the basic appeal remains the same: opening a pack and wondering what is inside.
Thirty years later, Pokémon is giving collectors a reason to experience that feeling all over again.
Whether you're chasing all 30 Pikachu cards, rebuilding a Classic Collection, looking for the biggest premium products or simply picking up a few packs, 30th Celebration is shaping up to be one of the biggest Pokémon TCG celebrations ever.
And with more products still scheduled to arrive through the end of 2026, the anniversary isn't over yet.
Thirty years down.
The next chapter is just beginning.
