MARRIAGETOXIN Season 2 Brings Bigger Action and More Unpredictable Marriage Prospects in January 2027
Fans of MARRIAGETOXIN have plenty to look forward to as the hit action-comedy anime prepares to return for its second season in January 2027.
During the “MARRIAGETOXIN Road to the Best Marriage! at NYCC” panel at New York Comic Con 2026, Director Motonobu Hori, Chief Animation Director and Character Designer Kohei Tokuoka, and Chief Producer Ryoya Arisawa of Bandai Namco Filmworks reflected on the production of Season 1 while offering fans a look at what they can expect from the highly anticipated second season.
Bringing MARRIAGETOXIN to Life
Looking back at the first season, Hori discussed the challenges of adapting the original manga into animation, particularly its fast-paced action.
With numerous action sequences taking place in quick succession, the production team initially had to find the right approach for the show's overall pacing and presentation.
Tokuoka also highlighted the distinctive visual style of the manga, explaining that the large number of memorable characters and unique visual elements presented their own challenges when bringing the series to the screen.
According to Arisawa, however, the production team gradually became more comfortable with the world of MARRIAGETOXIN. As the series took shape, the cast and staff developed an even stronger connection to its characters and ultimately came to love the series they were creating.
Season 2 Turns Everything Up
The panel also gave fans a preview of what's ahead in Season 2.
According to Hori, Hikaru Gero will continue meeting new marriage prospects, while even more eccentric and unpredictable rivals enter the story. The action is also being expanded, with Hori teasing that the pacing and scale of the action scenes have been powered up compared with Season 1.
Arisawa explained that one of the major challenges for Season 2 is expanding the unique charm that made MARRIAGETOXIN stand out in the first place.
Unlike the first season, where both the production team and audience were discovering what kind of series it would become, fans now have a better understanding of the show's world and personality. That gives the team an opportunity to build on what viewers already love while taking the series even further.
A Special Live Drawing at NYCC
The panel also featured a live drawing of Mei Kinosaki by Tokuoka, giving fans an opportunity to see the creative talent behind the series at work.
The NYCC presentation offered a closer look at both the people behind MARRIAGETOXIN and the work going into its upcoming return.
Season 2 Arrives January 2027
The wait for Season 2 is almost over. MARRIAGETOXIN Season 2 is scheduled to air globally in January 2027.
Season 1 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, while the original manga, written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, continues to be serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ manga app. The manga has surpassed 1 million copies in circulation worldwide.
With bigger action, new marriage prospects, and even more unusual rivals on the way, Gero's search for the ultimate marriage is far from over.
Fans won't have to wait much longer to see what's next for MARRIAGETOXIN.
